What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by websites that you visit. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. For example, cookies can be used to remember your preferences on a website, store your shopping basket items as you shop online, or count the number of visitors to a site.
The data we obtain via cookies allows us to:
- Personalize our web pages to meet your needs
- In order to avoid seeing the same notifications repeatedly, keep track of the ones you have already seen.
- Based on how you intend to use them, develop and update our websites.
Typically, we don’t utilise cookies to personally identify you.
Types of cookies we use
EAS utilizes five categories of cookies on our website:
- Strictly necessary cookies: These are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website. Without these cookies, services you have asked for cannot be provided.
- Performance cookies: These collect anonymous information on how people use our website. For example, we use Google Analytics cookies to help us understand what content is most popular with our visitors and how long they stay on the site.
- Functionality cookies: These allow the website to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or the country you are in) and provide enhanced, more personal features. For instance, a website may be able to provide you with local weather reports or traffic news by storing in a cookie the region in which you are currently located.
- Advertising/Targeting cookies: These cookies record your visit to our website, the pages you have visited and the links you have followed. We will use this information to make our website more relevant to your interests. Please note that third parties (including, for example, advertising networks and providers of external services like web traffic analysis services) may also use cookies, over which we have no control. These cookies are likely to be analytical/performance cookies or targeting cookies.
- Social media cookies: Some of our webpages may contain social media cookies, including those that enable users who are logged in to the social network to share content via their social media profiles. If you are not logged in to these websites, then these cookies will be set but not used.
